KANSAS CITY, MO - A West Plaza resident came home and found a naked man
lying in his bed on Monday. And as police soon discovered, he wasn't
the only victim of the naked sleeper.
Police arrested the 25-year-old burglar after he was found naked, lying
in a stranger's bed in the West Plaza Neighborhood in Kansas City, Mo.
The homeowner said he came home and noticed clothes on the kitchen
floor and food that had been eaten. In his bedroom he found the man
lying naked, asleep in his bed. He was unable to wake him and called
police.
The intruder later told police he was cold, hungry, and tired. He
stated he climbed on a retaining wall, accessed an unlocked window
above the garage and entered the home. He said he intended to clean the
house and leave before anyone noticed.
The homeowner also said the man used his computer and had visited at least one porn site.
Upon seeing police activity in her neighborhood, a woman offered her
own bizarre encounter with the burglar. She stated that at 3 a.m. on
May 9, she woke after hearing her dogs bark. That's when she found the
same intruder standing at the top of her stairs near the kitchen with a
drink in his hand. She yelled at him, asking what he was doing in her
house. The man told her he had always admired her house and was just
looking at it. The victim demanded he leave. That's when he turned
slowly and left the home through an unlocked door.
The victims have chosen to not press charges. Police are reminding people to keep their doors and windows locked at all times.
